cancellation & make-up class policies
Cancellation policy
We know life is unpredictable, and we've built our policies with that in mind — including a generous cancellation window and make-up options where possible. What we can't do is make individual exceptions. Our windows are firm: 7 days for most classes and events, 14 days for woodworking.
If you need to reach out regarding a reschedule, please email reschedule@recessgrove.com
Studio classes and events: up to 7 days before the class or event
Most classes and events within our studio may be canceled within one week (7 days) for a full refund. The specific policy for a given class will appear within the booking link for each event.
We know it stinks to get sick; however, this policy applies even in instances where you’re out with a cold or the flu.
If you anticipate a scheduling conflict, we encourage you to reach out as early as possible so we can work together on a solution.
Woodworking classes: up to 14 days before the class (or 7 days for Beginner Woodshop)
The majority of our woodworking classes may be canceled within two weeks (fourteen days) of the class’s start date for a full refund.
If something should arise inside of the two-week cancellation window, we’ll try our best to fill your seat. In the event we can’t find a replacement for your seat, we can’t refund your class fees. Why? Because these classes are posted far in advance and folks arrange schedules around them. Schedules firm up as we approach a class’s start date, making it much harder to fill an empty seat.
Beginner Woodshop may be canceled up to one week (7 days) before the class for a full refund. While we will not refund last-minute cancelations, we’ll maintain a ‘last minute, first-come first-served’ list for these folks and email them if a spot opens for a class unexpectedly.
Woodworking make-up classes
Make-ups for multi-part woodworking classes must be scheduled prior to the start of a subsequent class. An individualized make-up class is effectively a private lesson, and will be scheduled at a cost of $75 / session. Make-ups may be scheduled by emailing reschedule@recessgrove.com
Woodworking Foundations (I and II) is the only class with a complimentary make-up class. All other classes require attendance at both classes on the scheduled dates of the class, unless explicitly noted by us or our instructors.
Make-up policy for Woodworking Foundations:
We understand that life gets busy, and it's not uncommon for students to need a make-up class during the arc of the course. Each student is granted one complimentary make-up class.
Please note that because shop scheduling remains fixed regardless of the reason for an absence, this policy applies to all missed classes, including those due to illness.
Our goal is to keep every student on track throughout the course: make-up classes must be scheduled prior to your next scheduled session.
If you anticipate a scheduling conflict, reach out to reschedule@recessgrove.com to begin a make-up class scheduling conversation.
If you know you’ll miss a class, we have three options available:
Option 1 — Join another cohort that week! This is the ideal and preferred option. Classes are held on the following schedule:
Tuesday evenings: 6:15–9:15 PM
Thursday evenings: 6:15–9:15 PM
Thursday afternoons: 1:00–4:00 PM
Saturday mornings: 11:00 AM–2:00 PM
Option 2 — Schedule a Sunday afternoon session. Sunday make-up times may vary. Please reach out by the Friday beforehand so we can coordinate a time slot.
Option 3 — Private make-up class. If none of the options above work, we can schedule a private make-up class for $75 (50% off our standard private instruction rate). We have flexibility to do this throughout the week, both in the evening and during the daytime.
